Which product is right for me?

We have two product lines: Teensy and RP23CNC.  Both are excellent choices for building or updating a CNC machine. The main distinctions between them are performance and overall cost. The Teensy based motion controller (T41U5XBB) utilizes a customer supplied Teensy 4.1.  This is a blazing fast microcontroller which allows handing short movements with great performance. The RP23CNC motion controller is based on the Raspberry Pi RP2350 microcontroller and does not require an external microcontroller. It has great performance at a lower cost.

We also have 3 kit versions of each controller.  The kits provide you all the connectors needed to get you up and running.  We are happy to sell you just the base PCB with all the surface mount components and you source the connectors yourself.  The kits make it easier and give you the exact components needed to complete your project.

Board only - You get just the basic board with no connectors. You can solder the wires directly to the board or source the connectors yourself.  The user manual contains a bill of materials that calls out the exact parts needed. The Teensy board requires you supply the Teensy 4.1 microcontroller, available from Sparkfun and a number of other distributors.

Board + Assembly Kit - You get the basic board plus all the connectors to build a USB controlled motion controller.  The Teensy board requires you supply the Teensy 4.1 microcontroller, available from Sparkfun and a number of other distributors.

Board + Assembly Kit + Ethernet Kit - This option adds in the Ethernet Kit which gives you highly reliable, EMI resilient communications. We recommend this for all CNC builders. EMI can be a maddening disruption. The Teensy board requires you supply the Teensy 4.1 microcontroller, available from Sparkfun and a number of other distributors.
